Merchant St. Market

Kalbi and chicken mixed plate, Honolulu, Hawaii: Every second and fourth Tuesdays in downtown Honolulu, on the corner of Merchant and Bishop, the Merchant St. Market pops up a food court. Two of my favorites are regulars here are Pacific Soul and Grandma G's.

Pacific Soul is chef Sean Priester serving up the soul of southern favorites here in Hawaii. It doesn't get any better when it comes to ribs slathered in sauce, pulled pork, buttermilk fried chicken with a side of collard greens, cole slaw, or corn bread.

Grandma G's offers tasty teri chicken and kalbi beef hot off the grill. Try it with a dash of their spicy shoyu. If you're lucky, you may get there when they sometimes also serve a fresh catch of the day.
