Lunch at Hawaiian Breeze

Our excursions continue, two expat islanders, revisiting or trying for the first time the places in town that serve the Hawaiian style.

The chicken karaage is the Japanese version of fried chicken with a distinctively garlic and ginger kick to it. It certainly is not just a Hawaiian plate lunch dish, as it's a Japanese dish known everywhere, but it is found on many menus in Hawaii. The Hawaiian Breeze version is done right; juicy and crunchy.

My traveling companion ordered the kalua pork. She liked it. The orchid garnish is a nice touch but what makes this dish a Hawaiian style plate lunch worthy of consideration is the two scoops rice and macaroni salad. These are standard starches and the hallmarks of any good plate lunch.
