Life in Hawaii through the perspective of the plate lunch. The Plate Lunch as served by Honolulu Mark is a mixed plate metaphor for the way people, their stories and their food, come together on one plate to make Hawaii paradise. Honolulu Mark has returned home to his Hawaii roots but eats, shoots and leaves extend to my second home, Seattle.

Kailua, Oahu, aka the western White House
There's no way you're ever going to get anywhere close to where President Obama is staying in the beachfront town of Kailua on the island of Oahu Hawaii. But, who knows, he may wander into downtown Kailua for a cup of joe or bite to eat. The Morning Brew, a coffeehouse and bistro, would be the place the whole First Family would want to go.
This is my hometown morning hangout when I come back to the islands. They pull good shots of espresso and buying that cuppa will also get you two hours of free wi-fi. Yes, there is a Starbucks across the street, but do they have waffles? Do they have lattes with funky names? Or island hippy-ish dishes? Nope.
