Julie and Julia and Bastille

The official blurb from Columbia Pictures reads as follows.

"Julia Child (Meryl Streep) and Julie Powell (Amy Adams) are featured in writer-director Nora Ephron's adaptation of two bestselling memoirs: Powell's Julie & Julia and My Life in France, by Julia Child with Alex Prud'homme. Based on two true stories, Julie & Julia intertwines the lives of two women who, though separated by time and space, are both at loose ends...until they discover that with the right combination of passion, fearlessness and butter, anything is possible."

They managed to say Meryl Streep and butter in the same paragraph, so that piqued my interrest. Reading the article by Kim Severson in the NY Times "Film Food, Ready for Its ‘Bon Appetit’, " however, is a foodie delight that makes me want to see this movie. I love the quote from writer/director Nora Ephron: “I wanted that sole to look to the audience the way it had looked to Julia when it caused her famous epiphany."

To make it even better, I'm thinking of going to see it when it opens Aug. 7 at Majestic Bay on Market St., then to Bastille on Ballard Ave. to make it a completely Francophile evening.
