Mass transit, Save the Planet, Drive Less

But where other efforts failed, $4 gas is succeeding, and people in the region and around the country are shifting to public transit in record numbers. They are discovering an underfunded and incomplete system, one that works well in some places and sometimes, but is often far below what it should be. It seems the richest country in the world cannot afford world-class public transit.
