New Wing Luke Museum

The new Wing Luke Museum in the Intertnational District is now open. The Pic of the Day is a shot of the Nippon Kan curtain that hangs in the museum. Edward Rothstein writes in the 05-31-08 NYT:

One of the museum’s most remarkable artifacts is a 15-by-30-foot theatrical curtain on which is painted an array of advertisements for local Japanese businesses. (One advertised restaurant, Maneki, still exists a few blocks away.) The curtain was mounted almost a century ago in a nearby Japanese theater, Nippon Kan.

Wing Luke Museum is located at 719 S. King St. in Seattle.
