Happy National Trails Day
Dan Nelson reports in his article 40 years of happy trails (ST 06-05-08) observing the 40th anniversary of the creation of the National Trails System and National Trails Day on the first Saturday in June. Nelson is a trail-guide author for The Mountaineers and a frequent contributor to NW Weekend.
This photo by Nelson reveals the beauty of the Bird Mountain area of Indian Heaven Wilderness near Trout Lake in south-central Washington.
